JACK HOUVOURAS PRESIDENT



Jack Houvouras is a 1988 graduate of the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism & Mass Communications at Marshall University where he served as editor of the student newspaper The Parthenon. After graduating he founded HQ Publishing Co. and released the company's first magazine - the Huntington Quarterly. In the following years he oversaw the addition of numerous other magazines and specialty publications to the HQ Publishing Co. family. He is a 1993 graduate of the Leadership West Virginia program. In 1994 he was named the "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" by the West Virginia Small Business Administration. Outside of work he served as the West Virginia Special Olympics Summer Games Director, was a Junior Achievement instructor and Co-President of the MU School of Journalism Alumni Association. His specialties are writing, editing, design and new business development.

KATHERINE REASONS-PYLES MANAGING EDITOR



Katherine Reasons-Pyles is a summa cum laude graduate of Marshall University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in public relations. A member of the Society of Yeager Scholars, Katherine completed studies at Oxford University and Université Catholique de Lyon. While at Marshall, she was a reporter for campus newscast MU Report, a writer for The Parthenon and a news producer at WMUL FM, where her newscast won First Place in the 2006 Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Contest. During her college career, Katherine won numerous writing awards, including the School of Journalism and Mass Communications Award for Outstanding Public Relations Writing, the 2009 Maier Writing Award for Upper Division Non-Fiction Prose and the 2008  Jim Comstock Award for Outstanding Feature Writing. At HQ Publishing, Katherine oversees editorial content, writing, office management and advertising sales.

JENETTE WILLIAMS ART DIRECTOR



Jenette Williams has 17 years of experience in graphic design and art direction in advertising and marketing. Her multilayered experience ranges from print production to all aspects of advertising materials to fine art. Jenette’s strong visual and design skills, combined with her technical and production knowledge, bring cutting-edge creativity and versatility to clients of HQ Publishing Co. Jenette received her bachelor's degree in fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design from Marshall University, where she played basketball and volleyball. She was also employed by Marshall University as an assistant professor for the Department of Art and Design.

CASEY PAULEY-WHITE SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER



Casey Pauley-White joined the HQ Publishing team in 2008 as Senior Graphic Designer. Her responsibilities include the design and layout of HQ publications and advertisements, advertising sales and the management of advertising clients. White is a cum laude graduate of Marshall University, where she earned her fine arts degree with an emphasis in graphic design. During her college career, White earned several scholarships, including the Donald Harper Scholarship in both 2005 and 2007 and the Gala Scholarship award in spring 2007. White's work was chosen for display in the President's Gallery Exhibition in both 2007 and 2006 and was awarded first place in the Student Juried Exhibition in the spring of 2007.

JAMES E. CASTO



Retired newspaperman James E. Casto has written freelance articles for a long list of national, state and local magazines and newspapers and is the author of a number of books on local and regional history. He was a reporter and editor at The Herald-Dispatch for more than 40 years before his retirement in 2004. A native of Huntington and a Marshall University graduate, he's active in community affairs and, costumed as Collis P. Huntington, regularly appears at civic clubs, schools and other groups in a first-person program that offers a glimpse of the famed rail tycoon's life and times. On his retirement from The Herald-Dispatch, Marshall presented him its John Marshall Medal of Civic Responsibility in recognition of his services to the university and the community. He's been inducted as a member of the Huntington Wall of Fame. The Cabell County Library has named its local history room in his honor, and the West Virginia Library Association has honored him with its Literary Achievement Award.

RALPH J. TURNER, Ph.D.



Ralph J. Turner, Ph.D., is professor emeritus at the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism & Mass Communications at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., where he taught for 32 years. He also taught at Ohio University and Florida A&M University. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from Marshall University and his Ph.D. from Ohio University. He also studied graphic design at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology. He has done considerable writing, editing and design for numerous publications in several states. On his retirement from Marshall, he received the university's Distinguished Service Award. He also received a lifetime membership from the West Virginia Press Association in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to journalism education, West Virginia newspapers and the West Virginia Press Association. Before becoming a university professor, Dr. Turner worked as a reporter for newspapers in Wayne County, Huntington and Charleston, W.Va., including serving as editor of the Wayne County News.

Carter Seaton

CARTER TAYLOR SEATON



Carter Taylor Seaton graduated from Marshall University in 1982 with a Regent's BA degree in English and Business. As a marketing professional in West Virginia and Georgia, she has over thirty years of writing experience. ForeWord Magazine named her first novel, Father’s Troubles, as a Book of the Year finalist in 2003. A contributor to the West Virginia Encyclopedia and to several regional magazines, her article on the back-to-the-land artisans and performers in West Virginia was featured in Appalachian Heritage and won a Denny C. Plattner Award in 2007. Additionally, her award winning ceramic sculptures have been exhibited regionally and nationally and were selected for the WV Juried Exhibition in 2003, 2007, and 2009. She exhibits at Tamarack and received a West Virginia Artist Fellowship in 2008 from the WV Division of Culture and History.

RICK LEE



Rick Lee has worked as a professional photographer in West Virginia for more than 20 years. He received his Associate of Photography degree from Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C., where he was named "Chowan College Photography Student of the Year." Lee's artistic photography exhibitions have included the West Virginia Juried Exhibition, the Parkersburg Art Center Juried Photography Exhibit and the Huntington Museum of Art 280 Exhibition: Works on Walls. The majority of his work comes from the top advertising agencies in the region, serving industrial, financial, medical and high-technology businesses. His clientele includes Toyota, AEP, Charleston Area Medical Center, Union Carbide, Dow Chemical, Verizon, Columbia Gas, Weirton Steel and Marshall University. Lee's work has been published in Sports Illustrated, West Virginia Executive, West Virginia It's You, Southern Accents, Huntington Quarterly, Marshall Magazine, St. Mary's Today, The West Virginia Lawyer, Wonderful West Virginia and Southern Living.

REECE BOOTH



Reece Booth has been a professional wedding and portrait photographer for the past 11 years. He began as a "serious hobbyist" while attending Marshall University in 1985, but the professional bug did not bite until some years later. In 1999 Reece began working for a busy wedding studio in Cincinnati, where he received training in the technical and business aspects of wedding photography. After working there for four years he opened his own business. Reece recently moved back to the Huntington area, focusing his business on weddings and high school senior portraits. He has been working for HQ Publishing for the past year. His work has been published in Sports Illustrated, Huntington Quarterly, St. Mary's Today, Marshall Magazine and The West Virginia Lawyer.
